I\'ve recently installed a new modem (an Orange Livebox). Web access via browser is fine but BOINC is unable to access the reference website. May be quite irrelevant but for a time I also had a problem accessing a company mail server. This is now fixed although Orange never admitted that their kit might be preventing access.

Any suggestions?

If you can\'t get to the reference site, (which I think is Google), then you have a firewall or proxy server problem. Proxy servers are usually only found in business and school situations, but some people also use them from home.

Some of the following is now obsolete, but I\'m not sure in which version of the Manager it changed.

boinc.exe needs access to the web on ports 80 and 443, local access on ports 1043 and 31416.
boincmgr.exe needs local access on ports 1043 and 31416.
boinccmd.exe (if used) needs local access on ports 1043 and 31416.
boinc.scr may need local access on ports 1043 and 31416.

Browsers also use port 80, so you don\'t need to worry about this one.
The latest version of BOINC uses 31416, rather than 1043, which kept getting taken over by a Windows program.

Many thanks. It was indeed a firewall issue and is now sorted.
