Hi,

I get :

Mon Sep 25 17:44:41 2006|climateprediction.net|Starting task hadcm3lbm_9u6x_25228300_0 using hadcm3lb version 515

in the log, but the cpu and progress remain at 0%. Seti and Rosetta run ok.
I am running under Debian Sarge.
Any Ideas?

One of the problems with this project, is that if it doesn\'t get to run for long enough, it won\'t reach a checkpoint.
As you\'re running other projects as well, the cpdn model may be getting pre-empted too soon.
In which case, the only restart point is from the beginning.
Which is why it\'s necessary to set Leave applications in memory while suspended? in your General preferences to yes

If it\'s not this, please ask again.

I have it set to stay in memory. When the other projects are running, the cpu is 100%, but when CP is running it drops to near zero. The progress stays at 0.000%. I can see the process, but it doesn\'t seem to do anything. I have tried restarting, but get the same results.

From your posted message line, I presume you\'re running with the GUI. Any diagnostics under the Messages tab?

The log looks ok, I get:

Tue Sep 26 09:37:57 2006|climateprediction.net|Restarting task hadcm3lbm_9u6x_25228300_0 using hadcm3lb version 515

when it starts. It runs for its alloted time, but doesn\'t do anything.

Beats me, unless the CPDN Project or CPDN Task is suspended, in which case, you shouldn\'t see the \"Restarting...\" line.

Are you familiar with boinc files? Specifically: client_state.xml? If so, does anything appear obviously wrong? Missing ot trashed entries? (If not familiar, please ignore the question; it\'s not a good place to go poking around.) Given that CPDN remains at 0%, I\'m wondering whether BOINC and/or CPDN are waiting for something that isn\'t there. (Is Internet access allowed?)

If nothing else works, I\'d reset Project and re-try. If the same thing happens again, we\'ll have to call-in bigger guns, \'cuz I\'m stumped.

One way to better see whats happening is to start the thing in a terminal window with ./boinc
Then run ./boincmgr in a second terminal
This gives more info than the message tab

That looks bad, it should be retval=0 on both those lines.
Sorry, don\'t know much more..

that means cpdn couldn\'t dynamically set the stack space, we require >64MB for that, usually Linux kernels accept the run-time params we set, but it could be a global O/S change you require.
