Warning! Conflict Alert! Anyone running the climateprediction model should be very careful about installing the AOL free Xdrive remote file backup. I installed the Xdrive desktop and while trying to backup my files the Xdrive crashed the model. The WU was only 37% complete. Now suddenly is it is saying that it is 100% complete and ready to report. |

Any backup program may do this. The backup program locks files that BOINC is trying to write to every few minutes, and if that happens, you get a model crash. Some virus programs do that, also. Backups should only be done when BOINC has been stopped from running.

In fact, backups should only be done without ANY applications running. I hope you have a previous backup to restart the model from before the crash. |

Safest to turn off automatic scans and backups so you can be sure the model isn\'t running. For scans it\'s better to exit first, rather than just suspending. Cpdn news |
