Apologies if this has been asked before - just point me in the direection of answers if they exist. Installed BOINC under Mandriva 2006, and using ./run_manager as suggested, issued at the moment from a terminal: 1. Why do I need to su root in order for this command to succeed? The script and the executable have execute privileges. 2. what is the meaning of these error messages and what should I do to avoid them? [root@Bach BOINC]# ./run_manager send: -1 send: Bad file descriptor connect: Connection refused connect: Operation now in progress I shall put the command in my logon script when I know the answers! The text of the run_manager script is cd \"/home/graeme/BOINC\" && exec ./boincmgr $@ TIA |

Don\'t run it as root! Check the permissions of all the other boinc files and directories. Try to run BOINC directly without the run script ./boinc Linux Users Everywhere @ BOINC |
