I have downloaded boinc and extracted it to my home folder: \"home/robert/.boinc\" In THERE are various files \"master.html\", \"projects folder\", \"boinc executable\", \"6 -xml files\", and a \"lock file\". In the projects folder is another folder \"www.climateprediction.net\" In THERE are 2 files \"07a4_000034466.zip\" and \"hadsm3se_4.03_i686-pc-linux-gnu.zip\" Do I have to extract these 2 files to get the model running, if so how? When I start boinc from konsole I get: robert@localhost .boinc $ ./boinc_4.05_i686-pc-linux-gnu 2004-09-02 04:07:12 [---] Starting BOINC client version 4.05 for i686-pc-linux-gnu 2004-09-02 04:07:12 [climateprediction.net] Project prefs: no separate prefs for home; using your defaults 2004-09-02 04:07:12 [climateprediction.net] Host ID is 13626 2004-09-02 04:07:12 [---] General prefs: from climateprediction.net (last modified 2004-09-02 01:53:45) 2004-09-02 04:07:12 [---] General prefs: no separate prefs for home; using your defaults Is it possible I\'m missing dependencies? I\'m using YOPER. If there are dependencies to be met, what are they? I should be able to get them from apt. |

boinc (and the cpdn program running under boinc) should do all file extraction and startup. on a new workunit you should see two screens full of "unzip" information, if you don't it could be an incompatibility with your Linux libraries (i.e. glibc?2.6 needed etc, check the minimum requirements page |

One other question. It 'only' runs in a shell (dos box type). Is there not a 'windows' type version, or I doing something wrong. Thanks, Trent |

Currently, Boinc only has a command-line version on Linux. :-( But there are some third-party add-ons to allow you to view progress in the GUI. I haven't really investigated any of these yet, except for one that runs on Windows and will display the status of remote machines (running any OS). This one is BoincView from boincveiw.amanheis.de I'm not sure yet what is available as a GUI on Linux. |
