I do not have a backup of my CP file - here is the alpha of the message:
772828.890625
stderr out

<core_client_version>5.4.9</core_client_version>
<message>
- exit code -1073741502 (0xc0000142)
</message>
<stderr_txt>
(null): cannot open input file dataout/atmos_restart.day
(null): cannot open input file dataout/ocean_restart.day
Not a JPEG file: starts with 0x01 0xda
Not a JPEG file: starts with 0x01 0xda
Not a JPEG file: starts with 0x01 0xda

and here is the Omega:
No heartbeat from core client for 46 sec - exiting

</stderr_txt>

Validate state Invalid
Claimed credit 4147.2

If I cannot restart this project (I hope the time is not wasted), how do I start another project?

GrimJack

PS - I have 3 projects sharing this machine - CP gets 300 units and Einstein gets 100 and World Community gets 100 so I am processing but I want back on the CP wagon (I have a laptop dedicated to SETI - I think I started SETI about 6 years ago).

exit code -1073741502 (0xc0000142)

This is described in the sticky at the top of the Windows section, but here it is again:

This error is one of several that look similar, and is a Windows \'stop\' error. They occur when Windows gets muddled about trying to handle something, and the modelling program gets caught in the middle. Often it\'s because of a graphics problem, where \"graphics\" is ANYTHING being display; a change from a blank screen to a screen full of text; a rapidly changing series of pictures, (i.e. a game, or video editing, or Skpye, etc, etc.)
Sometimes cured by updating the driver for your graphics card, from the card makers website, and/or updating the DirectX driver.

Before playing games or doing anything involving lots of graphics, it\'s advisable to Suspend the program. (In the menu, or in the B icon in the SysTray, NOT the Suspend in the Tasks tab!)

As for getting a new model, BOINC will arrange this automatically, but only in certain conditions:
You\'re only allowed to crash 2 per day.
Only once any \'processor time\' debt owed to other projects is paid back.
Perhaps others, depending on the BOINC version.
There should be messages in the Messages tab if BOINC is not allowing a new model at the moment.

Les,

Thank you for your patience! I went back to look at \'results for this computer\' and see that I have actually had quite a few \'client error\' failures, I just never noticed before.

I play first person shooters a lot and that must be what is happening; I always left BOINC waiting for inactivity because I wanted to use all my spare cycles but I will set \'no activity\' and \'suspend\'

Thanks for your quick response

GrimJack (Rodger)

ps I went back and read the stickies
