I was running just fine until last week. I\'ve been running the climate change model. I added einstein@home project to my BOINC Manager v5.4.11 WinXP sp1 Now the globe model is black and not moving when the screen saver kicks on. Why is that? Here are my disk prefs: Disk and memory usage Use no more than 5 GB disk space Leave at least (Values smaller than 0.001 are ignored) 3 GB disk space free Use no more than 10% of total disk space Write to disk at most every 60 seconds Use no more than 75% of total virtual memory Here are the messages I\'m receiving. 1/20/2007 1:12:25 PM||Starting BOINC client version 5.4.11 for windows_intelx86 1/20/2007 1:12:25 PM||libcurl/7.15.3 OpenSSL/0.9.8a zlib/1.2.3 1/20/2007 1:12:25 PM||Data directory: C:\\Program Files\\BOINC 1/20/2007 1:12:25 PM||Processor: 1 AuthenticAMD AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2800+ 1/20/2007 1:12:25 PM||Memory: 895.48 MB physical, 2.26 GB virtual 1/20/2007 1:12:25 PM||Disk: 111.78 GB total, 72.88 GB free 1/20/2007 1:12:25 PM|climateprediction.net|URL: http://climateprediction.net/; Computer ID: 504156; location: ; project prefs: default 1/20/2007 1:12:25 PM|Einstein@Home|URL: http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/; Computer ID: 840311; location: ; project prefs: default 1/20/2007 1:12:26 PM||General prefs: from Einstein@Home (last modified 2007-01-19 18:06:35) 1/20/2007 1:12:26 PM||General prefs: using your defaults 1/20/2007 1:12:26 PM||Local control only allowed 1/20/2007 1:12:26 PM||Listening on port 31416 1/20/2007 1:12:27 PM|climateprediction.net|Resuming task hadcm3ohe_0t7x_05686207_0 using hadcm3 version 515 1/20/2007 1:12:28 PM||Using earliest-deadline-first scheduling because computer is overcommitted. 1/20/2007 1:12:28 PM||Suspending work fetch because computer is overcommitted. 1/20/2007 1:14:29 PM|climateprediction.net|Sending scheduler request to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi 1/20/2007 1:14:29 PM|climateprediction.net|Reason: Requested by user 1/20/2007 1:14:29 PM|climateprediction.net|(not requesting new work or reporting completed tasks) 1/20/2007 1:14:33 PM|climateprediction.net|Scheduler request succeeded |

Using earliest-deadline-first scheduling because computer is overcommitted. Adding a new project appears to have put BOINC into \'panic mode\'. Things should settle down again in a few days once BOINC has worked out a new work schedule for itself. Remember, it\'s only the long term switching and running of projects that matter. I have exactly the same problem, except I think mine started when I connected to BAM - previously I connected to SETI and Climatprediction.net directly. I did this back about mid January and it hasn\'t sorted itself out. When I do Show Graphics from within Boinc I can turn on the rotation and various other settings, but they don\'t carry across to the screen saver and when I go back to the Show graphics window the rotation and all settings have been turned off. I have the same problem on two different machines - they both run climatenet and other projects, but none of the other projects are common. |

Some/all of the settings in \"climateprediction.net preferences\" for this project got altered a few weeks back when some changes were made to everyone\'s Account page, to make room for the new credit listings. You need to set things up for what you want again, click Update, then Exit BOINC and restart it for the new settings to take effect. Pick a time just after the checkpoint counter has reached zero and returned to a high value so that you don\'t lose too much processing time. And if you haven\'t been making backups, may I suggest that this would be a good time to start? Backups: Here |
