Hi folks, I set up my Accounts\' general prefs to use only 50% cpu but it climbs as high as 80%? Is there something else I need do? Thanks |

The works differently that you expect. 50% means that the processor is running at 100% only half the time. So it will run 1 second at 100% and 1 second idle. It does not throttle the CPU like other softwares do.

Yes. You need to be using the very latest version of BOINC, which is still being tested. The option is only in the server software in anticipation of this being released soon. 80% would be the real amount used on a dual processor type of computer, when just 1 of the 2 processors is being used. Which is 50% in theory. |
