Installed BOINC 5.8.8 - upgrade from 5.4.11. No problem with the update. When I started the BOINC Manager (in \"Advanced\" mode), I saw the following messages being displayed 2007-02-05 15:17:21| |file projects/climateprediction.net/hadsm3_4.13_windows_intelx86.exe not found ...and all of these \"missing\" files are now downloading. I remember having deleted these files a long time ago, after projects of these versions ceased. Any idea why BOINC Manager now suddenly thinks it needs these...? |

Now all but three of these files have completed downloading. The final three now continue to issue these messages 2007-02-05 15:32:12|climateprediction.net|[file_xfer] Started download of file sulphur_data_4.22_windows_intelx86.zip Now where can I get these \"missing\" files from to stop these download attempts? (I may need to go and check some where old backups.) |

I aborted the transfer; all seems well now. Still, who (CPDN or BOINC) thinks that these files are needed? |

This was reported on another Board. Don\'t recall where though it might have been Beta. One hopes it\'s being addressed. So far, it seems no more than an infrequent irritation. "We have met the enemy and he is us." -- Pogo Greetings from coastal Washington state, the scenic US Pacific Northwest. |

This was reported on another Board. Don\'t recall where though it might have been Beta. One hopes it\'s being addressed. That might have been me in one of the PHP forums. On 3 of my machines 5.8.8 was trying to download 3 files for an earlier client version that are no longer available. I had a quick look and it appeared that because the file was mentioned in client_state.xml then the new client tried to download it. In the end I did the same as the OP, aborted the transfer in the transfer window, and the problem seems to have gone away. I\'m also going to wait until the the current models finish and then do a complete reinstall of BOINC. That will replace the folders and xml files to clear out the \"rubbish\" that is left from warious upgrades over the last 3 or so years. Ian |

Known issue (saw it myself), and the correct thing is to abort the transfers. I am unsure if anyone has looked into why BOINC wants to recall the old files, but it does. |
