I got BOINC running about one hour ago, however I have a problem in that whenever I click on any of the Web site links I get a pop-up box telling me:
.......
http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/quick_faq.php
but couldn\'t find a web browser.
To fix this, set the environment variable
BROWSER to the path of your web browser,
then restart the BOINC Manager.
--------
The xterm used to start the manager displays:
20:23:13: Error: No default application can open .html extension
--------

However the environment variable BROWSER is set to /usr/bin/firefox:

rjd@dart:~/BOINC> echo $BROWSER
/usr/bin/firefox

A couple of times the manager has locked up and won\'t respond though the model continues to run.

Any clues .....
Thanks,
Richard

yes I just solved this problem, sort of,
I upgraded my BOINC mgr 5.4.9
to
5.4.11

no matter what I had set for BROWSER it would fail
until I installed mozilla. Then it would open mozilla even though
BROWSER=/usr/bin/firefox

beware I just lost all my work in progress with the update.

To update BOINC version, Exit from the Manager, download new version, and install into same (BOINC) folder.
This ONLY changes BOINC. It doesn\'t affect the science applications, which will continue running from previous point on re-boot.

But the \"about\" tab tells me I am running 5.8.8 so surely I need something like 5.8.11 don\'t I.

Should I get this from UCB?

Thanks,

Richard
