The Climateprdciction client running om my computer reports at the moment 40,3 h completed and 2596 h remaining time. 1.31% of job is completed. This number does not make sense. If 1.312% equals 40h, the total running time would be mor than 3070 h. becaause the job takes so long time it would be a problem to finish the task. What calculation shall I relay on? Why not distribute smaller tasks? |

The calculations made by BOINC aren\'t very accurate for this project, being optimised for other projects which are shorter. There\'s no actual time limit on finishing, other than the project possibly being finished in 5 or 6 years time. Just let it run, and whatever is completed will be accepted. Data is uploaded once a model year, with a larger amount every 10 years, and a restart dump every 40 years. The current models are producing the data that the researchers need. What smaller tasks did you have in mind? Backups: Here |

Your computer\'s quite fast, so the model might take about 4+ months running 24/7. This is a normal speed for the project. Keep the screensaver suspended so the model processes faster. Cpdn news |

Well - is it possible to distribute tasts that har smaller, lets say about 10h on a regular computer, intead of about 2500 h? |

No it isn\'t. Please read the 2 items in Background Science: here to learn what is involved in climate modelling. It\'s not a trivial matter, which is why these models normally run on fast supercomputers. And even then they take hours. If this project is too much for your computer usage, there are lots of shorter, easier projects, some of which are listed here. Backups: Here |
