If I look at the work units I am supposedly working on for this machine, it lists 5. OTOH, if I look at the list of work units on my machine, I have only 4. boincmgr reveals 4, but also, looking at my file system reveals that the fifth one is not here. In particular, work unit hadcm3pbb_almn_05768666 is not on my machine at all. It is ResultId 6285338, WorkUnitId 5928959. 1.) How is that likely to have happened? 2.) Should I get rid of it somehow? If so, how? |

1.) Don\'t know. Do you remember actually having it in Tasks? It\'s folder may have been deleted, or client_state.xml may have become partially corrupted during a disk write/reboot/whatever, and that is the only part affected. Or perhaps something happened to the slots folder(s). 2.) The only way to \'get rid of a wu\' is to abort it, to let the server know that it won\'t be worked on. As it\'s not on your computer, you can\'t do this. But it will be \'written off\' by the server when it\'s deadline is past without any trickles. |

Or perhaps something happened to the slots folder(s). I am pretty sure it was never in the task list. I run Linux and locate function does not find any files like this anywhere, so I infer they have never been on my machine, at least not for long. 2.) The only way to \'get rid of a wu\' is to abort it, to let the server know that it won\'t be worked on. True, but the deadline is about a year from now, so no one else will be working on it. Sigh! |

True, but the deadline is about a year from now, so no one else will be working on it. Sigh! That\'s a different matter. After a certain period has elapsed without the server hearing from the model, (about 6 weeks), the server considers it to be \'lost\' and marks it for possible reissue. |
