For the past couple of days I have been getting an upload error : No space left on device.

I see the upload server is running. Will this error resolve itself?

Can I upgrade versions without loosing data?

Thanks

As soon as Milo or one of the other admins can move some data around so it frees up the upload server, it\'ll be temporarily fixed. CPDN is waiting for their new server with lots more space. Until that time you can see that message at times. If CPDN is the only project you run, put your BOINC on Network Activity Suspended and the message will be gone. (Also check mo.v\'s news thread regularly for updates.)

BOINC? Yep. I\'ve never lost a thing yet (knocks wood) and just install over the other version, without uninstalling the old version first, or even stopping BOINC. The installer will do all that for me.

If it makes you feel more confident though, backup the whole BOINC directory plus subdirectories, before you install the new version.

If we do run other projects, and don\'t want to suspend activity, will any data be lost by allowing the projects to continue running? Will it just keep trying to submit the data until it finds space?

It WILL continue to attempt an upload, but BOINC will abort the zip file after 14 days.
So it depends on how long you\'ve been trying to upload up to now.

Suspending network activitiy will just stop the error messages. Once BOINC has started the upload attempt, it will know how long it\'s been since it started this.

Making a backup now will allow you to save a copy of the files, if it\'s necessary to attempt a fix after time runs out. When someone comes up with a fix.

To all:

Followed everyone\'s suggestions and today the task was uploaded.

I recommend that you follow Les\'s instructions on backing up the data.

Thanks to all.

I agree about backups. The project READMEs offer a selection of methods. Backups really do make it much more likely that models will complete.
