This sounds silly but when ClimatePrediction comes up it offers a variety of views to choose from. Press control and a series of keys to make the selection. But, when I press control my screen saver ends and I\'m ultimatley unable to make a selection. How do I get around this to actually make a selection?

It doesn\'t work in the screen saver. It\'s been a while since BOINC had the CTRL+key option for the screen saver, but that\'s been taken out until further notice. Perhaps that it comes back in BOINC 6.0, which will have a whole new graphics end.

It does work in the Show Graphics option in Boinc Manager, though. And that graphics window can be maximized to fill the screen.

I am afraid the CTRL options will not be coming back. If I remember correctly it was taken out because it broke security.

Yes. But the display on the screensaver can take the selected view from whatever you selected last on ShowGraphics (you need the right combination of settings on the website).

* Your Account / Preferences / ClimatePrediction.Net preferences / Edit

\'Save POV on exit\' should be YES

\'Use Defaults\' Yes/No - I can never remember this one. I think if you have YES, it uses the settings you picked from the website, and if you have NO, it uses the saved view. But I\'m not sure.

Once you\'ve made the changes you want, Save, then click \'update\' on the project tab in manager. This will download the new settings.

You may need to experiment a bit to get it set up the way you want.


Incidentally, many of us avoid using the screensaver because it takes away CPU time from the model, we use ShowGraphics instead as-and-when necessary.
