I\'m running 2 climateprecition.net projects and I\'m getting an error ?for both projects?. program: HadCM3 coupled model experiment Optimised File I/O 5.40 filename: hadcm3inct_cnc2_1920_160_05890999_04 : hadcm3inct_clxc_1920_160_25868620_3 the error: 21-5-2007 17:37:53|climateprediction.net|Restarting task hadcm3inct_clxc_1920_160_25868620_3 using hadcm3i version 540 21-5-2007 17:37:53|climateprediction.net|Restarting task hadcm3inct_cnc2_1920_160_05890999_4 using hadcm3i version 540 21-5-2007 17:37:53|climateprediction.net|If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 21-5-2007 17:37:53|climateprediction.net|Task hadcm3inct_clxc_1920_160_25868620_3 exited with zero status but no \'finished\' file 21-5-2007 17:37:53|climateprediction.net|If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 21-5-2007 17:37:53|climateprediction.net|Task hadcm3inct_cnc2_1920_160_05890999_4 exited with zero status but no \'finished\' file 21-5-2007 11:38:56|climateprediction.net|Restarting task hadcm3inct_clxc_1920_160_25868620_3 using hadcm3i version 540 21-5-2007 11:38:56|climateprediction.net|Restarting task hadcm3inct_cnc2_1920_160_05890999_4 using hadcm3i version 540 21-5-2007 11:38:56|climateprediction.net|If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 21-5-2007 11:38:56|climateprediction.net|Task hadcm3inct_clxc_1920_160_25868620_3 exited with zero status but no \'finished\' file 21-5-2007 11:38:56|climateprediction.net|Task hadcm3inct_clxc_1920_160_25868620_3 exited with zero status but no \'finished\' file 21-5-2007 11:38:56|climateprediction.net|Task hadcm3inct_cnc2_1920_160_05890999_4 exited with zero status but no \'finished\' file do i realy have to reset this project? or is there any other way of fixing this project? |

DO NOT RESET! You will lose your work. This is an ambiguous error. It\'s really a warning that has not much meaning. It\'s actually partially a bug, but mostly harmless. The reason it happens is the time on most computers is not \"consistent\". The clock ticks can be slowed or sped up from different reasons. If a large enough skip happens, it gives this message. Windows asks for time updates every so often, or adjusts it\'s own clock for different reasons. There are a couple of versions of the software that was way too sensitive to this, and I am betting you have one of these versions. |

so i can just ignore the error?, also had a warning from the w32time application: systemtime hasn\'t been syncronized during the last 49152 second. because non of the timeproviders could give a useable timestamp. the systemtime isn\'t synchronized the report is in dutch. the warning: Type gebeurtenis: Waarschuwing Bron van gebeurtenis: W32Time Categorie van gebeurtenis: Geen Gebeurtenis-ID: 36 Datum: 21-5-2007 Tijd: 3:19:42 Gebruiker: n.v.t. Zie Help en ondersteuning op http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp voor meer informatie. this probably explains why i got the error. thanks for your help. |

so i can just ignore the error? Exactly. Ignore the error, and the time stamp issues were probably causing it. Happy Crunching. Glad you did not reset the project and didn\'t lose your results. |

I found several different causes for \"Task exited with zero status but no \'finished\' file\": - Not enough memory to continue. Some other program might have a memory leak. - Some other program uses all processor time. - The computer might hang because of an unreadable cd-rom. Rebooting usually solves these kinds of problems. |

I\'d say that Yannick\'s computer has plenty of memory for the two models unless he\'s running another very memory-intensive application at the same time. Here\'s the article about this error message in the cpdn project README: http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?p=50303#50303 Here are all the READMEs; http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewforum.php?f=36 Nobody should try to read all of it! For crunchers new to cpdn, I recommend *In the Running the model README, the top tips *In the README about avoiding model crashes, item #1 by Les giving an easy backup method and item #5 by Mike on how to avoid the most common problems.
