I\'m migrating over to a new computer. Is the process for getting BOINC and climate prediction over to the new system the same as for a backup, or is there an easier way? I can stop the other projects, so that that data is not lost, but I don\'t want to lose 1000 hours of work here. Thanks for any help. |

Moving a Model to another machine: http://bbc.cpdn.org/forum_thread.php?id=5361&nowrap=true&PHPSESSID=c18d443240500fd7663b9bdfcf8cd1d0#39310 That was written on the BBCcpdn Board, but it\'s the same Climate Model. (Edit: The folder is called CCE in the post; it\'s probably something like climateprediction.net in your C:\\Program Files. [I can\'t say for sure because my CPDN installations run from D:\\ or E:\\ Partitions, in files I created, not the installation default.]) If that\'s too confusing, please ask again. Best of luck with it. (Edit2: Heh! Here we are again, Mo, dancing together, a mere eight time zones apart!) Hi Ralph In the project README called Running the model, the last item by Astro is about this topic. CCE folder (=Climate Change Experiment folder for the BBC project) means boinc. http://bbc.cpdn.org/forum_thread.php?id=5361 Les\'s click-by-click intructions for backup and restore are the first item in the same README. When I moved the contents of my CCE/boinc folder to my new computer, I didn\'t bother zipping the files. I first made two separate backups of the boinc folder contents, in My documents on the old computer and on an external hard drive. I then downloaded a new version of boinc on the new computer and used Les\'s restore instructions to move one of the backups into the new boinc folder. Nothing should be deleted on the old computer until you have your projects running on the new one. When you\'ve moved it all and got it running again, please tell us approx what year your climate model had reached when you moved it, and how much faster the new computer is than the old one.
