Sorry missed that, Iain, would have liked to know how "Strathpeffer" looked in Japanese ;-) Visit the Scotland team |

When that nice Alex Salmondgets his way with the referendum, those of us who are in the Scotland team but are not actually Scottish will have to find another team. Correct? |

Even if AS gets his way (and personally I hope he doesn't!), I trust no-one will leave the team on that account! Congrats to Dave Roberts on his million - well spotted, Ian ;-) Team RAC has dropped sharply, probably because all the CPDN websites were offline for several days this week. I had therefore suspended network activity (while still crunching). But I saw they were back online - I think it was Thursday - so resumed network activity and I thought I "trickled" immediately, but it doesn't seem to have registered yet - my account is still showing "last contact 11 July". Perhaps the stats are just taking a while to catch up with the backlog. Visit the Scotland team |

Well guys, thanks for noticing the million mark, I'd missed that myself!! What with servers being down and the FoE annual conference last weekend, I hadn't looked at the project for a while. Quite nice to realise that one is helping in a small way. Cheers everyone Dave |

You're helping in quite a big way, Dave Roberts, well done! All the CPDN websites seem to have been offline or inaccessible for some considerable time, but all seems to be in order now and I've just sent what is for me a mega-trickle ;-) Visit the Scotland team |

Haven't been here for a long time, sorry so BUSY! But just thought it worth mentioning that it may be only temporary but team Scotland is currently once again in 20th place in RAC and still at 19th place in total credits. Keep up the good work, folks ;-) Visit the Scotland team |

Happy New Year to team Scotland and everyone else reading this. Hope you all had a great festive season and wish you all the best for 2014. Not a very good start for CPDN though - "no work from project". I'll just keep trying. Visit the Scotland team |

Finally did get a new task, which is happily running but the report deadline is showing as 1901 - I'm just ignoring the deadline as usual but that one does seem a bit strange! ;-) Visit the Scotland team |

In regards to that model, please read the latest News and Announcements, and then Abort the model. Backups: Here |

Thank you very much Les, I appreciate your advice as always and am sorry to be so bad at following the announcements. So I've aborted it and am waiting in line for another. Visit the Scotland team |

Did anyone here celebrate Burns Night on Saturday? Apparently nobody in the Scottish Community Forum did (!!!) - or, if they did, they're not saying. I celebrated twice - once with an informal dinner & live clarsach music in the Pavilion's new Caf Bar on Saturday, and the previous week at a formal Burns Supper given by Dingwall Gaelic Choir. Haggis, neeps and tatties at both, of course. Also cranachan for pud at both - broth for starters at the Dingwall one but Cullen skink at the Strathpeffer one, just delicious. Yes indeed, an annual occasion with family and friends. The 'Rabbie Burns collection' book was on hand to address the "Great chieftan o the puddin'-race" with home-grown neeps and tatties. My daughter-in-law also organised a Cornish Burns night supper, a first in her family. |

Well done hagar, good to keep the Bard's memory alive. Good for your daughter-in-law too. I once went to a Burns Supper in a restaurant in France - when I was invited, I assumed that at least one of the proprietors must be Scottish - but no, they were French, just had an affection for Scotland. I was working in Switzerland at the time and found that the Swiss loved haggis - I often used to take some back with me when I came back to Scotland. And well done too on being team Scotland's top CPDN contributor - amazing RAC and heading for 10,000,000 credits! ;-) Visit the Scotland team |

That's odd. The Scotland team appears in the team list ranked by total credit but not in the RAC list (despite having a RAC of 8,568). Everything's rather messed up at the moment ... |

... which must now have run as the team appears on both lists. Perhaps it fell down the crack between two pages as the script was running. The new RAC is page 2, whereas the old RAC was page 1. [Edit: Due to an administrative error we ended up with an uninspiring veggie haggis. Payback required on Feb 14, I fear.] |

Nice to see you, Iain - shame about the veggie haggis. Though some of them are not bad, my sister once used one to stuff her Christmas turkey, which worked extremely well! Are you now planning a real haggis for Valentine's Day? ;-) Yes, team Scotland sometimes does fall between the cracks while moving between pages 1 and 2 of the team pages. I've got another strange message on my current model - which doesn't say "no resubmission" like the one I aborted, but is giving me a daily message: 03/02/2014 10:12:54|climateprediction.net|Task hadcm3n_7a96_1980_40_008424573_2 is 131311.72 days overdue BUT, when I check on the actual task, it says Report deadline 28 July 2023 I haven't spotted any explanation of that one in the News and Announcements! The "no resubmission" only appears the first time it's applied to the data set. Subsequent reappearances caused by the BOINC problem don't have the message. You need to look in the Work unit column to see it. The very long "deadline" is to block BOINC's automatic and unwanted re-submissions for a VERY long time. So, abort that one as well. This has been discussed in some of the Number crunching threads, but I'll post a News item about it. Backups: Here |

Many thanks, Les, you're a scholar and a gentleman and I'm most grateful to you for all the times you've most kindly come to my rescue since I first joined the BBC part of the climate project years ago - was it 2005? So I aborted that one and eventually got another one, which seems to have no problems - third time lucky? Visit the Scotland team |
