I have one dual CPU (P3/600's) and the machine has always been perfectly willing to start and run 2 SETI or Predictor WU's at once. No matter what I do, I can't get it to work on 2 CPDN WU's. I initially didn't have the disk space large enough to even run 1 CPDN WU, but once I increased the disk % allowed enough, I was able to quit getting the 'not enough disk space allocated' error and it loaded one WU and began processing it. Now I've steadily increased that allocation until I'm allowing BOINC to use ~1.6Gb (of which about 1.51Gb is free) each time updating to see if it would make a difference. It still won't load a second WU and 1 processor is just sitting there doing nothing. :( On a possibly unrelated bit of weirdness... I keep changing the profile of this machine to "work" and it keeps changing itself back to "home". If anyone knows what might cause that, please let me know as well. I can change it to work, then shut down my browser, log back into my account, check that it is still work (it is) and then as soon as I actually hit Update on the client, it reverts back to home for its profile in my account. Took me FOREVER to figure out why the separare profile for work wasn't having any effect on the disk allocation until I discovered that little 'hiccup'. :P The machine is hostid=18028 ... if anyone can help, I'd sure appreciate it, because I'm out of ideas. |

Ahh... nevermind on the first part. Of course, the problem was that the resource allocation between the 3 projects was only allowing CPDN a small fraction of the available disk space and since both SETI and Predictor cannot update right now, I had to crank the CPDN allocation up to a crazy high level to get it to 'overcome' the restriction. Of course, going strictly by that, I can't figure out how it ever loaded the first WU, but I guess I can try to figure that out another day. They REALLY need to allow separate settings for "disk space" vs "time slicing" in allocating resources, since not all projects that are CPU intensive are disk intensive and vice versa. :P |
