I have restored from a backup after losing one Hascm3 to an unrecoverable error. On attemptiong to start Boinc, it refers me to \"advanced\" select computer. If I insert \"localhost\" and my computer password nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? |

If the message is that the gui is not connected to local host, then the way to fix it is to click OK WITHOUT putting anything in the 2 fields. These fields are for the info about a remote computer to which you want to connect. And you then also need a file on each of the computers with the details about both (all) of the computers. PS This has nothing to do with backups, and everything to do with re-booting, and Windows grabbing the port used by BOINC. Backups: Here |

It will still not connect after clicking O.K. Any other suggestions? I am running Vista Ultimate and a Q6600 2.4 and have 4 Hadcm 3s there somewhere that I would really like to get running again. |

Vista is not BOINC friendly. You need to install it outside of the \'program files\' folder. e.g. In C:\\BOINC or something similar. If you haven\'t done this, create a folder, move the entire BOINC folder (and subfolders), to this new folder, and then re-install BOINC in the new location. (To fix the registry.) |

Thank you Les. That worked well. |
