There\'s really only one way to find out. :) Some combinations work, and some don\'t. (Putting a thick blanket over the Cacti before putting anything on top of it may help.) Backups: Here |

i am running Fedora 7 and on top of that I have loaded MYSQL, PHP,NET-SNMP,ntop,MRTG,NAGIOS & CACTI How many nodes will you be monitoring with Nagios? How many network interfaces will you be monitoring with ntop/cacti? Are you running the stock kernel or a custom kernel? There can be a latency issue with BOINC running, even when it\'s NICE-ed to low priority. Other than that, linux will handle all these applications just fine. I would try it carefully. Check your \"Check Latency\" in the nagios performance page once BOINC is running. If you expect peak load during a certain time of day, you can configure BOINC preferences to not run during that time or only allow network during off-peak network times, etc. Also, if you have multiple CPUs in this box, you could have BOINC use only 1 CPU and leave the other CPU to do its job. |
