Hi Can anyone suggest a way to by-pass User Account Control, please? If I get a download which requires a re-start and I am not there, I lose hours of crunching time. Can Microsoft not be persuaded that BOINC is a safe program? Regards Mike |

This is a BOINC problem, which is better discussed on the BOINC/dev boards. There are already threads there about Vista problems, and the one about UAC seems to be: turn it off. Talking to Miocrosoft about BOINC is also discussed in a thread there. |

How com I don\'t see the climate prediction info regarding how much time a filtered and my average in the same place I see my rosetta and seti crunch time. I mean when I log on to rosetta I also see my seti hours and the same applies if I log on to seti account I see my rosetta crunch time. Whereas when I log on to climateprediction I don\'t see my rosetta or seti crunch time. An answer would be nice. I don\'t think my question relates to BOINC so I think this is the right place to post. A |

Hi I am running a Vista Test machine in our labs here at work. I have been running Boinc fine with User Account Control on. I\'m trying to see if all of our programs work fine leaving it on. What downloads are you referring to that require a restart? If you are talking about Windows updates just set them to prompt you before installing. |

As Les says, the information is available. You need to follow your username link from a forum page (e.g., this page). They\'re not listed on the \'your account\' page - after all, the only person who can look at the \'your account\' page is you, and you already know what projects you are attached to :-). I'm a volunteer and my views are my own. News and Announcements and FAQ |

Mike and Les, I think you\'re missing the point of Lex\'s question. On some BOINC projects, on the the account page, there is all the project-related stuff, but then at the bottom of the page there is an additional section which gives a brief summary of the current status of the user\'s account on the other projects he or she is attached to. I think it\'s picked up via an external stats site. On the CPDN site, on the user account page, this cross-project information is not yet available. Contrary to what Lex says, this is a BOINC issue: specifically, to do with the BOINC server code revision running at the project. We know that the CPDN BOINC servers aren\'t fully up-to-date, because of the continuing noise the (lack of) 64-bit support generates: on the other hand, private messaging has recently made an appearance, so some updating is going on. Like CPDN, I would be cautious about rushing to the bleeding edge of BOINC code - sometimes the latest isn\'t the greatest - but some of the innovations are nice, and it would be good if CPDN kept an eye open for BOINC developments and tried to find time to install the better ones. |

Actually, I\'m having trouble working out what he\'s talking about. And when I clicked on his name to the left of his post, his other projects DO show up at the bottom of the page that leads to. As does everyones. This data was added to this SPECIFIC page several months ago. Going to one\'s Account page via other paths takes you to a different version of the Account page, with slightly different info. I\'ve no idea how other projects handle this, but to misquote Siegfried in \"Get Smart\", \"This is cpdn. We do things differently here.\" :) edit I\'ve just had a look at SAP and the beta site, and both of them show all projects on both the \"home\" page and the \"show user\" page. Milo\'s away for a few days, so I\'ll make a note to ask him next week if the difference between this site and the other 2 is an oversight or a server version problem. |

Actually, I\'m having trouble working out what he\'s talking about. I beg your pardon. Yes, I see that if I click on my name link in the forum page, I do indeed see my cross-project summary. But if I click on \"Your account\" in the blue \"Taking part in CPDN\" navigation panel, I get to a page which doesn\'t have the cross-project stuff, where I would expect to see it in other projects. Sorry for the confusion. Edit - noted your edit. |

I can see the point of listing the projects on the \'public\' user page, since people might be interested, but I\'m not sure what the point is of showing it on the private your-account page (since the only person who can see that is the user themselves, and they presumably know their other projects?). I'm a volunteer and my views are my own. News and Announcements and FAQ |
