http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=6881965 An A64 X2 4400+ running WinXP x64 with 2GB RAM, had a pair of v.5.44 CM started about the same time. After building their second 10-year uploads, one turned belly-up with a Negative Theta error. (It occurred while Internet access was suspended.) \'Back when\' there was a spate of Negative Theta failures and each of my machines had at least one. As they failed the same way at the same place on rerun, I gave-up on reruns for that error. This was my first Negative Theta with v.5.44, however, so I pulled my finger back from the \'Network activity always available\' option and loaded a two-day-old backup. Two days passed: Failed at the same place with the same error (frustrating, but no great surprise): Model crashed: umshell1.f: ATM_DYN : NEGATIVE THETA DETECTED. Sent the bad news home, along with the #2 10-year upload, and downloaded a replacement CM. (Can\'t win \'em all.) Thanks, Les. Woke to another nasty surprise this morning. Same \"Missing data in ocean UV fields\" diagnostic, this time on the Quad -- running stock speed, with 4GB RAM, in Linux (openSuSE 10.3). \'Tis a significantly different environment from the other failure. It also croaked near 25%, though before building the second 10-year upload: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=6906886 Three-day-old Backup... Quad... Same error message on same type Model as above... Hence, didn\'t bother to rerun. Unfortunately, there are two more from that batch of Runs on the machine, as well as another on the 4400+. I hope it isn\'t another bad batch . . . [Edited for typo.] "We have met the enemy and he is us." -- Pogo Greetings from coastal Washington state, the scenic US Pacific Northwest. |

At least you know it\'s a faulty model and not your fault! Cpdn news |

Had this one http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=6907125 fail in 2017 in Linux with the ocean uv error. One wonders where these models, that we\'re starting in the year 2000, failed before. It\'d be nice to be able to have a link to the work unit that gave us our year 2000 restart dumps. |

Point well taken. Odd that your failure and both of mine occurred within the same few percent of completion. Probably coincidence but, nonetheless, I\'m curious.
