Hi, Which PC is getting these problems? Where are you seeing the message, is it in an error dialogue or in the log file? It sounds like some sort of file-permissions problem. Has that installation ever been moved via a CD/DVD, or perhaps you\'re using a different user to the original installation? In any case, what might work on the PC is this: * Detach from the project * Shut down Boinc * Delete or rename the c:\\program files\\boinc\\projects\\climateprediction.net folder * Restart Boinc * Re-attach to the project This will cause a fresh set of files to be set up on the disk. Note that it will also cause a new host ID to be created for the PC. If you could let us know if this works, that\'d be great. I'm a volunteer and my views are my own. Hi MileMarsUK, Yes I did the actions as you requested. I have now two new work units operating fine. I\'m just curious where that error came from or how it got initiated. I had to abort a WU of which I completed about 40% of, and I think it a pity to loose such a WU and not finishing it. Greetz Simmel |

If you could please answer Mike\'s questions, it may help to track down what happened. This BOINC/science_application business is just so complex, that it may have been any of many things. |

I wasn\'t aware that there was a successfully running model on that PC as well, in which case I\'d have probably suggesting running with \'no more tasks\' until the running model completed, prior to the detach/attach. The fact that the detach/delete/attach worked does imply that it was either a file permissions problem (owner, or readonly), or alternatively a corrupt file somewhere. As Les says, we have no way of knowing what caused it. If you know what happened on your PC on (or just before) the tenth of December, that\'d be useful - my original questions were what I felt were the most likely things. The \'stdoutdae.txt\' log entries for that time may be useful (this is found in the Boinc directory). Also knowing how the messages appeared would also be useful.
