Hi, I had joined SETI@HOME with BOINC. I have version 3. Since SETI is down, I decided I\'d try to join this project too to get some processing done. However, when I tried, it said I needed version 4 and refused to attach. I tried looking EVERYWHERE on the website but could not seem to find a way to download version 4 manually -- the web site seems to say this will happen automatically. But for whatever reason, my BOINC has NOT automatically upgraded. HELP! How do I manually install version 4 without erasing my SETI preferences so I can also join Climate? Thanks, - ERIC - |

Hi Eric, The part that upgrades automatically is the client running inside BOINC, but the actual BOINC application has to be d/led manually. This means that when SETI (or CP or Predictor) comes out with a new version of their computation program, BOINC will automatically make sure you have the newest version. The core client must be downloaded manually. Right now, CP and (theoretically SETI, but it's down.... again) are on client 4.xx. Predictor however is just now making the transition from 3.2x to 4.0x. Manually d/l the client that you can find either on the CP or SETI site (d/l from SETI to get 4.06 if you run on a WIN98/ME), then enter your ID key and the URL and away she goes. Good luck. |

"Model Download" in the menu at left for BOINC v4.05 Eric. <a href="http://www.nmvs.dsl.pipex.com/"><img src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/cpdn/stats.php?userID=6&team=off&trans=off"></a> |
