I just tried BAM to change the resource share for the CPDN and ABC projects. ABC worked and CPDN did not.

Thanks.
Please would you let me know what you tried changing it from and to. Do you see any error message or is the resource share value simply not updated? Is it only the resource share that\'s affected?

Milo,
I tried to change the resource share from 50 to 100 using BAM and nothing happened, and no error message. I\'ve tried various other values in the past and all were ignored. From BAM I\'m able to turn off and on the No New Work option and it works everytime. When changing the No New Work option and the resource share at the same time, the No New Work changes and the resource share does not. In the past I\'ve used the delayed detach option in BAM, it also works. All of the attach/detach functions work. It appears only the resouce share option doesn\'t work.

I just tried BAM to change the resource share for the CPDN and ABC projects. ABC worked and CPDN did not.

Thanks.

I still have this problem when I try to change the resource allocation from BAM. BAM reports \"incorrect response from project\" or similar - I used the Swedish language version of BAM so the real english language error message may differ.

Would someone who has been affected by this problem mind checking to see if it\'s still there, please?

Am experiencing same problem, as of today, BTW when I manually changed settings at CP the date for last update was Oct 9 \'09. This was not a user update request. This was all prompted by the \"Incorrect response from project\" at BAM.

Since last time I looked at this I\'ve been logging what the am_set_info.php script does, which shows that it is generating updates to preferences and so it presumably isn\'t setting them correctly if they are not being reflected in users\' info.
I will, of course, keep looking at this but I suspect that it will require a full BOINC upgrade on the server, which we are not in a position to do immediately.

Thought I'd chime in that I'm also having this problem. Changing the resource share on BAM still generates the error "Incorrect response from project." I came over and changed it direct on CPDN instead and saw the change reflected within minutes in the BOINC client.

I realize there's much to be done and this is low priority. Just observing that it's still there.

Hi Guys, just want to let you know, this problem still exists, changing resource share in BAM will generate "Incorrect response from project" for CDP. it would be great to get that eventually fixed.

This was tested a couple of years back, and found to be a problem with the way BAM deals with the data transfer between it and this site.
Links were put into place here to redirect the data, but BAM still can't handle it. So it has to be manually changed here.

I guess there still exists the issue of updating CPDN resource share using Bam. Is there any work around for this? Can the CPDN resource share be adjusted using the CPDN website or Boinc software itself?

Until then my Boinc software is running CPDN at a much lower resource share than I would otherwise have given it.

It should be possible to do this by clicking on climateprediction.net preferences on your account page, and adjusting it manually.
I haven't tried this for years, but it should still work.

CP does not seem to play fair on my computer. It is set to share 50/50 with World Community Grid bu never seems to release the CPU to that project. It seems that I have to suspend CP to run any WCG programs.

Resource share is a long term value.
It operates over several weeks to several months.
Every time that you manually change things, as you are doing, BOINC has to re-start the learning process.

So it is like a selfish kid. It does not relearn anything - if I turn it back on it takes over. Bye climate prediction net. As I said, it does not play fair. This is a shame since I am a climate scientist.

Steve,

BOINC DOES LEARN! But it has a tough time with our disparate tasks.

Your two recent posts demonstrate that you fail to discern between CPDN, in its several versions, and boinc. (CPDN is a product of U.Oxford, boinc is a product of U.C.Berkeley.) I'm not a defender of boinc but CPDN offers boinc challenges of various sorts, challenges Berkeley didn't consider -- nor should Berkeley's crew be denigrated for having failed to do so -- nothing as complicated as CPDN's current mix of models was anticipated in the design -- a design in which CPDN computer-staff participated more than a decade ago. That was then ...

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I thought a scientist would have investigated, at least a bit, before leaping to a conclusion.

Thanks for you arrogant response. The problem to me was simply that CPN would not release to WCG. What the hell was I supposed to investigate. And you should be removed as a moderator if this is the sensitivity that you display. Goodbye CPN and good by to you fool.

At the moment I am not running anything except CPDN though I have ran tasks for WCG and others in the past. From my point of view, the problem was that if CPDN wouldn't let go, many other projects had tight deadlines for work meaning that the results would be no use by the time CPDN let go. For me the only way around that was to tinker and override BOINC's way of doing things. Easy enough when only one computer is involved and it is being used on a daily basis. I currently have four boxes and some of them are pretty much left to get on with it unless I have reason to suspect a problem.

It does play fair by the rules that are put into it but if you keep changing the rules........

I also not a lot of your tasks are getting compute errors. Most common reasons for this are antivirus scans and automatic reboots by windows.
