When the Climateprediction screensaver kicks in, after a while the image goes crazy ... just like old TVs used to do when the horizontal or vertical hold would breakdown. It does not happen right away, but usually within 10 minutes. Any ideas about what is broken? |

I can\'t see what sort of model you\'ve got because your computer(s) are hidden, but is it a HADSM model doing this? http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=5637 Cpdn news |

I can\'t see what sort of model you\'ve got because your computer(s) are hidden, but is it a HADSM model doing this? There are 2 models running in the Task list UK Met Office HadSM3 Slab Model 5.06 and HadCM3 Coupled Model Experiment Optimised File I/O 5.44 I do not why I have both. And I am not sure how to tell which one is running when things go crazy. Thanks |

If I were you I would disable the screensaver (set it to None). It slows down the model processing and can make some computers slightly unstable. You would still be able to see the model graphics using the button in the BOINC manager Tasks tab. Then you\'d know exactly which model you\'re viewing because you would select the model yourself. You could just close the graphics window when you don\'t want to watch the globe. Cpdn news |

Thank you. I just came across similar suggestions for other screensaver problems. Seeing how long these models are estimated to complete, any additional computer power I can apply to them will help. Thank you again, Iain |

Let us know whether you get normal graphics for both models when you use the graphics button in BOINC manager. If a HADSM slab model produces abnormal graphics, check out that thread I gave a link to. Cpdn news |

It\'s possible that the graphics card/chip is failing under load. Here\'s a post explaining how to test graphics and load an updated driver if necessary: http://bbc.cpdn.org/forum_thread.php?id=1038&nowrap=true&PHPSESSID=b4e8fc5a2c3affb9eefb30421c3abc8f#3977 Edit: If the hardware is failing, that\'s a different problem.
