Hi fellow crunchers

On March 24, 2005 Team SETI.USA was created to consolidate United States users and become the #1 SETI Team in the world. This goal was achieved within 24 months of inception thanks to the extraordinary efforts of our dedicated membership. To parlay that effort, and for the benefit of all BOINC distributed computing projects, Team SETI.USA\'s commitment to extend beyond a single project has begun. SETI.USA is now BOINCing the world! As of September 19, 2007 we reached our second goal of becoming the #1 team in overall BOINC!!! We are now working on taking #1 in other BOINC projects. We recently obtained a #1 ranking in Proteins@home (Stats Page). Join with us as we boldly go where no team has gone before!

Hmmm. Maybe CPDN should create its own team and spam other projects\' forums with recruitment ads? Or maybe not. ;-)

SAH, in my opinion, already commands a far greater share of BOINC resources than its premise justifies. I left it and came here (and to WCG) to try to help with some *real* science that actually has a reasonable chance of doing the Earth some good. I must respectfully decline the invitation.

However.......... we did notice something interesting on the CPDN-BBC project where tens of thousands of new members had no previous experience of distributed computing and initially had no idea how to get their 160-year models to continue rather than crash. Joining a team where there were other more experienced members, a team forum, team credit charts etc seemed to significantly improve new members\' chances of success.

So considering that the biggest BOINC problem is probably the high early dropout rate, I think that proactive team leaders help a lot with membership retention.
