I\'ve been prompted to download and install BOINC 6.2.16 on my PCs. This has forced a password change, as I couldn\'t remember it, and wiped out the SETI and Climate Prediction modules my machines were working on. Am I alone in thinking that this \"upgrade\" was botched? |

If you followed the recommendations in the thread at the top of this section and made a backup first, then you should be able to recover all of your work. Even without a backup, your previous work may still be there in another location. As for needing a password change, that shouldn\'t affect your account OR data. There have been several posts from people who have said that everything went smoothly, but I\'ll reference this thread on one of the other boards and see if anyone else has ideas about what went wrong. |

What password is it which you\'d forgotten, the Boinc account one, the host\'s remote-control password, or the user on your PC, or ... ? If it was the Boinc account one, I seem to recall that you can get it via the account key stored in your client_state.xml, or perhaps the account file for each project. Perhaps this post explains what you did when installing the new version; as an \"admin\", and then tried to run it as a normal user. When you couldn\'t see the models, you created a new account at the project, (hence the \"forgot password\"). If this is so, then you\'ll need to re-install BOINC, following the advice in the above linked post, and go back to using your original account. You can attach using the account key, which is in the account_climateprediction.net.xml file near the top, and then change the password. |
