My CP model stopped running recently, after completing about 20%. Messages complain of several issues: HadSM3 needs more disk space. HadCM3 Coupled Model Experiment Optimized File I/O needs more disk space. HadAM3 needs 1464.84 MB RAM but only 458.99 MB is available for use. OK - I read the stickies, and I think I fixed file space issues by deleting old models. But this RAM issue is a puzzler. The stickies suggest a minimum of 512MB RAM, and I have 768 MB installed on my WinXP computer. But this message is demanding 1.5GB and that can\'t be right; can it? |

... HadAM3 needs 1464.84 MB RAM but only 458.99 MB is available for use. The HADAM3 model is a high resolution one-year model. So it does require that sort of RAM, though the ones I\'ve run don\'t seem to actually use all that RAM when I\'m looking. However, it would be nice if the warning message wasn\'t given to people who have de-selected the HADAM3 model in their project preferences. Your 768 MB should comfortably run either HADSM3 or HADCM3. |

The 1.5 Gigs is enforced just in case people are running Vista. minimum of 512MB RAM was for pre hi-res models, and is still valid for those models. However, all of the models, as well as other programs, will benifit from having more than this minimum. Have a look at your climateprediction.net prefs; you\'ll see the 1.5 Gig requirement stated there. In red. |

Yes, I see the requirement. I had not checked any preference for type of model, so I suppose it could have loaded an AM3 up; however, there is no subdirectory in my BOINC directory for an AM3. Nor were any of the ones I deleted earlier an AM3. So, why would it attempt to run an AM3? Is that like a single year of a larger experiment, run in greater depth? I have now checked off a preference for an SM3 model. Perhaps that fixes things. |

... So, why would it attempt to run an AM3? Is that like a single year of a larger experiment, run in greater depth? ... Try the first item in the climate science readme on the PHP board: here. |

Mark It didn\'t attempt to run a hadam. Computers with less than 1.5Gigs and a BOINC version of 5.10.* (possibly 5.8.*?), get that message by default, for all models. Unfortunately, the message can\'t be isolated to just the hadam model. |

... So, why would it attempt to run an AM3? Is that like a single year of a larger experiment, run in greater depth? ... Well! Originally I just wanted to help out; now I feel overfed! Thanks, and I\'ll leave the science to you folks! |
