Boinc runtime exception 108 file operation failure

I am running climateprediction on an XP pro machine with an Athalon 2.7ghz processor 80 gig HD and 256mg Ram. Whenever I start my machine I get the following error message displayed on my desktop. BOINC Runtime exception -108 file operation failure failed to reopen stdout for diagnostics redirection (overwrite) filename: “\\Boincsrc\\Main\\boinc\\lib\\diagnostics.C’ line: ‘93’ Can one of you officinardos advise me as to a remedy for this proplem in laymans terms. I am also running Seti and LHC on my computer. REG |

Hi Reg, I'm by no means an afficionado, but here's my thoughts on your problem anyway ;) The error indicates that BOINC is having problems opening the file stdout_um.txt in the CPDN workunit directory. Because you're getting the error on starting up I'd start by making sure the user that's starting up BOINC has the necessary permissions on the BOINC directory and all its subdirectories. If that's your problem giving full access will work, but if you want more refinement you could restrict access to List Folders / Read Data, Create Files / Write Data, Create Folders / Append Data, Traverse Folder / Execute Files and Delete Subfolders and Files. <a href="http://www.teampicard.net"><img src="http://www.teampicard.net/templates/fisubice/images/phpbb2_logo.jpg"></a><a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/team_display.php?teamid=3">Join us here</a> |
