I opened up the messages tab in my boinc manager some 30 minutes or so ago to check why it was flashing red at me in simple view. Now I can\'t close the messages down or the main boinc manager window, instead I get a message up saying that the programme isn\'t responding. I\'ve tried right clicking on the icon in the taskbar to try to pause and close it that way but there\'s no response from that either. I\'m reluctant to close it through task manager as I don\'t know if that will muck up the model or not. What am I supposed to do now? sarah |

Hi Sarah Tricky. 1) See if you can shrink the manager window so that you can get at the desktop. Then use Windows Explorer to get to the BOINC folder. (Assumes you have a shortcut on the desktop, as I have.) Find the icon for boincmgr, and click it to start another manager. See if you can (menu)Suspend boinc through this. Then (menu)Exit the manager. Then use the Task Manager to see if the 2 hadsm3 items have disappeared. If they have, then you can kill the boincmgr.exe item. (You should be able to get to Explorer via the start icon, bottom left.) 2) If the above doesn\'t work at some point, very carefully use Task Manager to kill boincmgr.exe, leaving the 2 hadsm items, and boinc.exe there. |
