A computer has WinXp and the new beta Windows 7 (64bit)

On install I am getting the following error message.

No experience with that but if it works the same as Windows/Linux dual boot, the two OSs don\'t know about each other. (Linux can\'t operate on Windows CPDN files but but XP and W7 should be able to do so.) Assuming boinc 6.n.n, reinstall boinc in W7 and tell it where to find the data file. You\'re the pioneer . . . Good luck with it.

Solved it - sort of, Win 7 Boinc install overwrites the store folder including deleting existing data files!! but then Boinc on both systems will run the same data crunching.

I am running dual boot Windows 7 x64 and Windows 2000 (x32 only). When I installed 64 bit BOINC it wiped out 2 or 3 weeks\' work of 32 bit SETI and CPDN! Also, when I switched back to Win 2k it couldn\'t run the 64 bit programs. I set up two different BOINC directories, one 64 bit and one 32 bit and am using a common \"data\" directory. Now one picks up where the other leaves off and no complaints from either OS.

On the 29 May I installed Win 7 64 bit on my dual boot system and copied the existing BOINC data from my Win XP 64 bit. Win 7 BOINC loaded the data, then reported 100% completion and requested, received and ran fresh data. Win 7 then crashed later in the day (Not related to BOINC)and could not be recovered. I reverted to Win XP which happily ran the original data where it had left off. It is still running and reporting but no credit is appearing.

I apologise for not being precise. Win 7 didn't run any of the original tasks, the 100% was shown immediately. The 6 trickles from Win 7 were for a different set of tasks.

EDIT: I think I get it! Although Win 7 didn't carry out any processing on the tasks it will have reported them as complete and therefore the points have already been allocated?

The credits allocated to the task hadcm3istd_cpyv_1920_160_06017787_0 seem to be correct. The trickles are listed under the Windows 7 'host' even though you have now reverted to the XP machine.

The 'client detached' outcome for the task has been caused by restoring the XP backup. The server knows that it has received 'later' messages from the Windows 7 machine relating to the model but has then noticed 'earlier' messages from the restored XP version: it reports this state of affairs with the rather mysterious 'client detached' message. The 'host' web page, here, won't update the detached task records (except with credits) - they're stuck : however, the task page (i.e. the one with the trickles) will continue to update.
