Just before Task 828906 finished today and at 99.5% completion, I backed it up. Before 8282906 completed, I got a download of hadam3p_mbo3_1990_2_006046453_1 which is now running. However the just completed task shows 100% progress but status is \"computation error\". Should I delete everything from folder where work files are kept and restore from today\'s backup? If so, what impact will this have on the new task that started today and stands at 0.081% progress? Alternately, leave well enough alone and it will eventually fix itself? |

If you interrupted the model at a critical point to make the backup, then this may have caused the error. Once post processing has started it\'s best to not touch them. You only get back what you saved, so if the backup was from before the new model arrived, then you\'ll lose it by restoring the backup. The way around this, is to make a new backup, using a different save name. (And make sure that you FULLY exit from BOINC first, not just from the manager.) Next, clear the working area by deleting everything, and restore the backup. Run the backup and see what happens. If it\'s no better, then just let it report to the server. (Or you can wait until the next step first.) Once you\'ve finished with the old model, exit from BOINC again, clear the area, and restore the second backup. Continue with the new model. edit And as a follow up to your other post about no trickles, you won\'t see these in the Transfers tab; they only show as the message that Mo posted. You can look back through the messages to find when trickles were sent, and also see a list of them on the server page for each model. Backups: Here |

If you interrupted the model at a critical point to make the backup, then this may have caused the error. Once post processing has started it\'s best to not touch them. FOLLOW-UP TO Message 36631: When I noticed the \"completion error\" on the just completed task and an entry that a new task was downloading, I left well enough alone. Later on I noticed that the new task was being processed while the just completed task still showed a \"completion error\". Today the completed task is gone with the only entry being that the new task was being processed. Since I did not snooze, then exit BOINC per usual but simply let it continue, I am assuming that the completed task has been successfully completed and uploaded. Is there any way of confirming that the completed task has in fact been successfully uploaded? If not, I will have to follow your advice above. |

Is there any way of confirming that the completed task has in fact been successfully uploaded? Just look at the page for each model on your account on the server. Any error codes and info are listed there, along with the trickles, and graphs. BOINC is designed to do lots of things, including uploading the final data from a model, which is triggered in several ways. One of these is 24 hours after the final zip file upload. Backups: Here |
