"UK met office HADAM3P is not available for your type of computer"

is all I get, on the other hand I can get and have been getting for a long time work units for SETI

my computer is a mac power mac 7, OS:DARWIN: 7.9.0 Memory 2.5 physical, 10.05 virtual. disk 75.53 total, 9.80 free

could someone give us a hand saludos

The climate models only work on Intel Macs.

I get the same message "UK met office HADAM3P is not available for your type of computer"

but my MacBook has the Intel processor:

GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T7400 @ 2.16GHz [x86 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 6] (2 processors) --- Darwin 9.8.0

I just joined boinc and climateprediction.net, so far no work units.

The only tasks available right now are hadam3p regional models, and they are not available for linux or mac at this time. Hiro is trying to get FAMOUS work units released for all platforms, but recent database issues have prevented this. And, for the mac, these FAMOUS work units seem to be less stable than for other platforms. It's a whole compiler for Mac issue in compiling the FAMOUS app problem. Global coupled models are being tested at the Beta site, and should also be available for all platforms at some future unspecified time, but when this might be released is still a big question. The IT resources on this project at this time are less than dismal.

Bottom line...you may have a lot of difficulty getting work at this time, and if you do, it may not be very stable. Things may look better in a month or two as new IT staff eventually arrives, but it'll take awhile to spin up on this complicated project.

I'd just posted a new thread on this topic - then discovered this thread. I'd actually had some FAMOUS instances run successfully which was why I was puzzled.

What I've been doing in the meantime is to dual boot my Mac with Windows (XP to be on the safe side) and run instances there.

If anyone wants to try this and has any questions, I'm only too happy to try and help.

I just wanted to say, there are plenty of Mac cycles out there waiting for you!

The beta testing may be nearly 'there', allowing the hadam3p mixed resolution models to be released. But it could take another 2 - 4 weeks.

Ok I will leave my Intel Mac attached to CPDN if work is so close to being here. I just finished a WU and my machine is begging for work and is being told no work is available. Keep up the good work and I hope to se progress soon.

The weatherathome applications (HADAM3P regional - EU/PNW/SAF) are now available on all platforms - i.e. Windows, Mac and Linux.

After being without for a while, I almost had some WU's today. But two failed during download and two others died with a computation error within minutes of starting :-( And since you only get a max of 4 WU's per day. I'll have to wait till tomorrow to see what happens next

BTW I'm on a MacBookPro running 10.6.6 on IIntel Core i7

MacRonin: Sorry about that - there appears to have been a lot of finger trouble at CPDN today. None of the problems looks hard to fix so things should be in order tomorrow. As Les says, the news thread will be updated when we hear anything.

Not a problem, but thanks, for the update. Just wanted to make sure you knew about the errors. I'll have my system try again tomorrow till they come in OK.

Just picked up 4 WU's and the first 2 have started up with no problems. So we are off nd running again.
