Boinc hang completely, the last line in stdoutae every time is 09-Jun-2009 17:18:06 [climateprediction.net] Fetching scheduler list Then nothing for as many hours as I leave it, with no activity by other boinc projects and a dribble of cpu activity by boinc.exe Before I resort to wiping out all trace of climateprediction.net, are there any better ideas? No problems accessing http://climateprediction.net/ via browser |

Are you aware that for several days now, the project's servers have been having problems? Please read the recent posts in the News and Announcements thread, which is near the top of the Number Crunching section. You can subscribe to the topic, (in fact, ANY topic), and get an email message whenever there is a new post. (Email notification must be ON to get these.) There's another News thread at the top of the independent board, here. This can also be subscribed to, and also needs email notification to be on for that board. The news about the current problems starts with this post. Basically, there are currently some serious server problems, and no uploads are being accepted by a couple of the upload servers. ****************** The Server Status page is accessable from the blue menu to the left. Are you aware that for several days now, the project's servers have been having problems? I'd looked at the server status page, which shows some of the upload servers out of action, but I'm assuming the 'Fetching scheduler list' line would be attempting to contact the scheduling server? In any case I'd expect something like the "Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site" message rather than hang boinc completely. I'm not convinced the problem is at the server end. |

Hi Tim Could you please unhide your computer(s) for the time being so we can see from your project web pages some of what is or isn't going on. You'll need to do this in your account (blue menu on left). Nobody will be able to see anything confidential. If you click on my name you'll see the sort of pages that will be made available. What version of BOINC have you got? Are there any tasks from any project in your Tasks tab? In your BOINC Manager Advanced menu > Preferences, if necessary increase the additional work buffer to 10 days > click OK. Then in the BM Projects tab highlight CPDN and click Update. Let us know whether that has any effect. Cpdn news |
