In my community & message board preferences I have \'Jump to first new post automatically\' enabled, but I don\'t think this has been effective for a while. Does anyone else find the same? It\'s only noticeable in long threads.

A good thread to test it if you\'ve looked at it before is Milestones in the Cafe.

It works, unless a post has not been looked at for a \"period of time\". What this period of time is, I am gathering is somewhere between 3 months and 6 months.

Other than that it works on active posts.

When first checking this, I found it was not related to either number of posts
or period since last post but possibly thread dependent. Very random behaviour.

Then, after 10 minutes and using 3 PCs, it stopped going to any first new post!

Have now deselected the \"Jump to ...\" option and selected \"Newest post first\"
sort option (either in community preferences or at top of any thread).
At least it is now consistent and sometimes I may temporarily switch to
\"Oldest post first\" to read through an entire thread.

Thanks for highlighting this issue, Mo! It was annoying to scroll down the long
\"Scotland team\" thread so am happy with sort by newest first.
