Hi,

is it possible to show the average runtimes for the different models somewhere? I can´t find those either in the CP preferences nor on the model description website here: http://climateprediction.net/content/models-used-cpdn

As my computer is not the fastest I would like to run only the model with the lowest computing requirement / fastest runtime, like currently HADAM3P, which is retired.

Sorry if this can be seen somewhere already, I just coldn´t find any value.

Thanks

The relevant information used to be shown, but appears to have been lost in the various upgrades.

Here, for comparison are the credits for a range of models, which will give you approximate relative run times:

HadCM3: 52,254.72
HADAM3:5,443.20
HADSM3: 7,145.52
HADSM3 Mid-Holocene: 9,527.36
HADAM3P: 2,081.77
FAMOUS: 6,176.41

However, only the FAMOUS model is currently available for download. A FAMOUS model takes about 4 days on a Mac (P7550) and about a week on Windows (Q9550).

You are quite right to ask for the information: different models take different amounts of time, memory and download bandwidth. Future models may require 'modern' processors (i.e. SSE2). The user should be able to choose appropriately.

Thanks, I´ll stick with the FAMOUS model then.

Maybe you could add information to the different models like Primegrid is doing it in their preferences, something like:

321 Prime Search (LLR)
Supported platforms:

* Windows: 32bit, 64bit 1
* Linux: 32bit, 64bit 1
* Mac: 32bit, 64bit 1

1 32bit applications sent to 64bit hosts

Recent average CPU time: 18:08:48

Thanks again.
