... would it be possible to have a day or two's notice, say on the News and Announcements thread, so that we can be prepared. I run a variety of PCs from AMD Sempron through Intel Quad. Last time there was a new model, I was taken unawares and downloaded a most unsuitable model to my most inadequate system before I realized they were out, so had no chance to preset Preferences. So it failed. I know it's only one model, but I don't like to have any models fail unnecessarily. / |

I'm afraid that Tolu didn't often tell us in advance when he was going to release model types on the main project, or he'd say something like 'sometime soon' or 'later this week' after which a problem might arise in Beta and the public release would prove impossible. This happened because he had far more work than anyone should have. If in the future we can announce public releases in advance we definitely will do so as you're absolutely right about this. I don't think there will be any releases of completely new model types for a while as the advertisement for Tolu's replacement was just published a few days ago. However, we have HadAM3P in Beta and doing well so you never know, that may be the next for CPDN. Cpdn news |
