As the title says, I want to stop boinc from always asking for GPU tasks. I have an ati 5770 card, so boinc constantly asks for GPU tasks, which pollutes the message log and probably puts unneeded strain on the servers. In the boinc client I set the options to 'Use GPU never', but it still always asks for the units. I ended up setting the project to get no new task, but I want to not micromanage this project. What should I do? |

Some projects use GPU others don't. AFAIK this is the way BOINC works & you can't stop these requests: 2 x GPU then CPU work get. |

When BOINC finds that a computer has a graphics card suitable for GPU work, (and, I think, suitable drivers), it'll start asking all connected projects if there is any GPU work. Over time, it'll slow down to only asking once per day. It has to do this. Otherwise, how is it to know if a project suddenly develops a GPU facility? Backups: Here |

In boinc 6.10.58, in Activity tab, there is an option to never use GPU. I don't know whether it works but its worth a try. "We have met the enemy and he is us." -- Pogo Greetings from coastal Washington state, the scenic US Pacific Northwest. |

Look here http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Client_configuration. Option <ignore_cuda_dev> or <no_gpus> should be sufficent for your needs. Best regards, Dandelion |

Look here http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Client_configuration. The only problem with these settings is that they are global; i.e. they will disable the GPU(s) for all BOINC projects, not just CPDN. I don't believe that's what the OP wants to do. -- Tony D. |
