I have two tasks listed, both of which are shown at 100% and have "computation error". Checking messages, all appears normal with computation starting and stopping based on my activity on the PC. When I look at PROJECTS (I have one) it says "trickle-up pending. Communication deferred 12:24:15" deferred for over 12 hours? I assume there is a server issue? |

My uploads, both trickle and zip, are proceeding normally, and the Server Status page is green, so it must be something at your end, or in the train of nodes between you and Oxford. More useful than the Projects tab messages, are those shown in Messages, which may need to be accessed from the menu, if you're using a recent version of BOINC. The 100% that you mention is just BOINC. When the "manager" doesn't get certain info from the "client", it assumes that the work unit has finished, because that's all that most projects need. The "computation error" part tells the story - the models have crashed. And a month ago, after only a few trickles, judging by what's on your account page for each of those models. Fixing your connection problem - have you tried Exiting from BOINC, (both manager and client), rebooting the computer, and then restarting BOINC? Backups: Here |

Thanks for the info, Les. I let the 12 hours pass and things are running as they should now. I went to my account page and discovered that my other machine had not had contact since November! I've re-booted that machine and hope that will get it talking to the project again. I've found it's never a good idea to leave any Windows machine running unattended for long. |

I'm getting Intel Visual Fortran dialogs popping up all the time. I click, Looks like an empty pipe, got confused. Maybe it ran out of space? Funny, climateprediction is taking 22GB of my disk space. Most of any BOINC project. Window Contents are this Title: Intel(r) Visual Fortran Runtime error forrtl: severe (38): error during write, unit 8, file C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\climateprediction.net\hadcm3n_ya9x_1940_40_007682445\tmp\pipe_dummy Image PC Routine Line Source hadcm3n_um_6.07_w 007D9D[/img] |

These boards are full of posts about Fortran errors. They happen to some computers some of the time. And they usually stop again by themselves. There's been lots of ideas as to why they occur, but nothing definite. As to the 22 Gigs of disk space, that'll be because your computer has crashed lots of models. Models that fail don't clean up after themselves. Compare the names of the tasks currently in the Tasks tab, and delete all of the folders with names that AREN'T there.
