I have been receiving this error message out of the blue.

Can\'t open temp state fle: client_state_next.xml
Couldn\'t write state file: -108

My work units are being processed and sent when completed. What is this error message referring to and will it affect the units I crunch and/or send back?

I don't know about this error but from a file perspective have you checked to see if this file exists in your BOINC directory? Did one of Microsofts features manage to cross link this file (shut down Boinc & try running check disk). Have you tried a re-boot?

Some of the others may have come across this error and be able to provide you with more information
