I have one of my machines that is set to use all the cpu time it can get. The last two mornings when I've gone to it, the Process Explorer tray icon shows it is using only 50% of the cpu. When I go to BOINC manager, it looks like CPDN is running, the time is changing, but the task is nowhere to be seen in Process Explorer. If I force it to other BOINC tasks, they show up, and if I then force it back to CPDN - same deal, it doesn't appear to actually be running. This is true after a BOINC manager and task shut down and restart.

I think this is also happening on another machine, obviously on a different task.

And if I'm reading my account information correctly, there's been no trickle on this job since 17 Nov.

For the interested observer, here's a link to the task

Could it be your problem is with Process Explorer?
The way it works for CPDN is that a wrapper runs the actual executable. If the branch with the wrapper is collapsed, you will not see it using CPU-time.
The name of the wrapper should be something like: hadcm3n_6.07_windows_intelx86.exe

If that is one of the problems, the question remains why it doesn't seem to trickle anymore. I can't answer that one.

Process explorer, when any 2 other BOINC projects are running, will show the CPU as fully utilized in the tray icon. When one of them is CPDN, it is only showing 50%. That 50% is the other project, and 50% is system idle.

If you open Process Explorer and sort by CPU usage, what you see is about 50% each the other project and system idle, with no sign of hadcm... When there are 2 other projects running, you see them both around 50%.

I just pulled up the graphics, and the hours elapsed showing there don't match the elapsed in BOINC manager - they're lower by 20+. I'm going to suspend this task and see if it will fetch another and what will happen then.

After 160+ hours elapsed, the model time is showing as zero. I'm aborting it.

Usually when a task appears stuck I do the following:

1. Suspend and un-suspend it
2. Shut down BOINC and restart it
3. Shut down BOINC and reboot the computer
4. Abort it

Seeing as you have tried 1 and 2 without any luck, try 3 and if all else fails you may as well abort it. Given they are so big you want to avoid aborting it if you can.
