If this has already been answered somewhere, please kindly point me to where. I've searched and haven't found it.

I'm running CPDN as my only BOINC project on a mid-2010 15' Apple MBP running Lion. I'd like for the screensaver image to change periodically (automatically) so that it's an actual ... well, screen *saver* ... as opposed to a (expensive - the screen, not the program) screen burn in program. ;-)

How do I do that? TIA...

Don't know the answer to your question but lcd screens do not suffer from burn through having the same constant picture on them. This was only an issue for some of the older crt monitors such as the monochrome green on black I started with (oops showing my age a bit there). The more recent crt monitors even did not suffer from this so rest assured, your expensive screen will not suffer.

I don't run the graphics with my own computer as it takes away from the processing power going to the project.

The "screensaver" isn't a screensaver in the usually accepted way. The name is a left over from 10 years or so back, when the original SETI used the screensaver function to do it's work.

The only way to do what you want, is to NOT use it. It's a dynamic program which uses processor time to constantly recalculate the display anyway.

If you want a screensaver, then use one from the computer's operating system.
Personally, I have mine set to blank, and use the Show graphics button to look at what's happening with the model now and then. My 'personal processor' time is too valuable to just sit in front of the computer all day watching the screen display. :)

OK, I understand that I can't do what I want to do. The reason why I wanted to, BTW, was simply so that when I was away from my computer it would show off that I was contributing to CPDN. Thanks anyway...
