Not a new thread - very old - but recently noticed that it only happens on my Intel Ubuntu boxes. Never on AMD or my very rare other Linux or Windows boxes.

Where somehow the upload server name gets changed from ..../handler/... to ..../hnddler/.. in the BOINC/client_state.xml

Happening almost always last few weeks.

That's all I have to offer - only ubuntu, only Intel.

Have done edits of BOINC/client_state.xml more than four times last week to fix this very strange and never resolved years-old problem.

This problem in general has been happening ocassionaly for years - when I notice, I patch - but really really weird -- anyhow -- if anyone watching has a clue ??

so do the pathc thing again -- shutdown BOINC - do a backup - vi BOINC/client_state/xml -- replace all hnddler with handler -
explicitly that's ":%s/hnddler/handler/" or any other vi command that will do the same or use a text editor with '[replace all]' whatever --

anyhow this old problem is happening a lot with ubuntu on Intel -- still no clue why - first report was several years ago - still no clue - is it a BOINC or Ubuntu or Intel problem -- no clue --
Most likely not ANYTHING TO DO WITH CPDN.

The specific Intel products associated with this problem are the Core2 Duo and Quad - no info on earlier or later versions - also on recent Ubuntu Precise - have had problem earlier versions but Precise is the only one running now .

Yeah yeah - I see it - try the latest BOINC - I've been avoiding anything newer than 6.10.58 because on linux it's a pain and doesn't get me nothing have no whatchacallits and CPDN doesn't use the whatyoucallits anyhhow - the vid card stuff - anyway -
It will be a few days - but I'll try the latest BOINC

Expect the problem will be there but I'll test it on a Core2 will be at least 3-5 days before testing it - anybody else wanna test with newest Boinc ON LINUX WELCOME.

He has gone over to Boinc v7.0.xx which fixes the problem, so he won't be seeing it any more. According to Alex's linked thread, it was a Boinc issue where the string is corrupted if there were trailing / leading spaces.

He has gone over to Boinc v7.0.xx which fixes the problem, so he won't be seeing it any more. According to Alex's linked thread, it was a Boinc issue where the string is corrupted if there were trailing / leading spaces.

Just so. Since BOINC 7.0 haven't seen the problem with garbled upload server names. Never saw it with WCG, rosetta, or malariacontrol even back on BOINC 6.

Also never had it with WCG though as I only run WCG when there is no work from CPDN it may just be luck that I escaped.
