Needed to reboot my system. Afterwards, when I from the console started the Linux client (WITH the -update_prefs http://climateprediction.net parameter) it told me \"Deferring communication with project for 1 weeks, 2 days, 0 hours, 56 minutes, and 23 seconds\". My system is sitting there idle. I don\'t want to wait a week to see if it does anything. How do I put it to work again ? Should I create a new account, wipe my disk, and start all over again from the beginning ? mikus p.s. This system runs OFFLINE. It requires manual intervention on my part to set up a temporary proxy for it to communicate with the CP servers. Ir is very hard for me to set up the link when the __client__ wants it. Is it possible for me to tell the client when __I__ have set up such a link ? |

you should be able to start up and explicitly connect via: ./boinc_4.05_i686* -update_prefs http://climateprediction.net |

The client soon types the "Defering > communication ..." message. After that, 'top' shows my system to be idle. that's odd, I seem to be getting similar "unwilling to connect" behavior on my Mac. Hopefully newer boinc versions will fix this problem. |
