Hi,

I just started last week with BOINC and everything, so please excuse me if I did something obviously wrong.

My computer finished now at least a dozen jobs for climateprediction but the statistics in the BOINC manager or my user page at climateprediction.net don't show any completed jobs. How do I know whether the jobs failed at somewhat a 100 % or it is a mistake by the server?

I think to know BOINC is working since I did more than two dozen jobs for the ATLAS project and everything went fine there.

Best,
Ruben

click on your user name to the left of your post. At the bottom of the page click on View to see your computer(s)click on tasks http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/results.php?hostid=1338602 is the page in question. If you click on the individual tasks and then the plus next to stderr you will see something like this.

This is due to a problem with the current batch of work and is discussed in a thread in the number crunching section.

Incidentally, is your box 32 bit or did you install the 32 bit libraries as described in the thread at the top of this section? When I saw the long list of crashed models I was expecting to find the 32 bit libraries not installed error.

Thanks for the fast reply!

Yes, I have all the 32bit packages installed. Needed them anyways for other applications.

What I'm wondering is, the reports say that they only invest like a few seconds of CPU time but they actually are running a long time.

And since it's not solved yet, I can stop all other simulations, right?

Best!

I would stop any new tasks of the HADCM3S type being downloaded till they have sorted out the problem and just crunch other projects till they have fixed it or have another type of task available.

Edit: not official advice, just my own opinion.
