Hi, Lorvija, Welcome back! Re. Les's comment on "Suspend request..." Have you checked Task Manager option in Preferences/Disk and memory usage: "Leave applications in memory while suspended"? Well so far I didn't remember the suspend -> exit cycle before shutting down. I'll start doing it. As for the suspending, I'm currently leaving data in memory while suspended so I'm not sure if it helps? |

I'm currently leaving data in memory while suspended so I'm not sure if it helps? Depending on how you use your computer it may or may not make a difference. If there are times when you use it for CPU intensive tasks which will result in BOINC stopping or virtually stopping computation of tasks then not leaving tasks in memory while suspended will create crashes or is very likely to. However it looks like this is not the issue with your machine. |

When I look at CPDN results for my computer I see that CPDN still registers my computer as running Windows 8.1 Pro, but I've been running Windows 10 since last August. Is there some way to update that? I know - it is not particularly important, but my curiousity has woken up! |

I have a vague feeling that this has been reported somewhere with previous windows updates but can't remember where. My partner's machine has just been updated by yours truly to windows 10 but she won't let me put CPDN on it. Only problem I had was after update touchscreen was disabled. Neither Asus nor Microsoft or indeed the help people where we bought it from were any use. Finally I tracked it down to the bios and having allowed booting from USB for the upgrade had disabled it and restoring factory defaults in bios sorted it out. |

When I look at CPDN results for my computer I see that CPDN still registers my computer as running Windows 8.1 Pro, but I've been running Windows 10 since last August. I think you are running boinc version 7.2.33. This was from Fall of 2013. Perhaps a later version of boinc would recognize it? I'm not sure but looking at the leading computers, at least some of them are listed as Windows 10, and they are running later versions of boinc. |

Thanks for that insight. It may not be the version that is important, just that I update the version I have. I suspect with the updating, CPDN would take a fresh look at my computer and recognise Windows 10. I'm always slow to update the BOINC version until I know that it is not causing "problems" for CPDN. Are there any problems with version 7.6.9? Again, I know you want to ask - So why did I update to Windows 10 so quickly? Put it down to disliking Windows 8.1 and using the Insider previews to find that Windows 10 was better for me. |

It's not cpdn that does the recognizing, it's BOINC. And a re-boot may be required for it to do that. |

Thanks for that insight. BOINC reads the OS when BOINC starts and reports it to the server when it communicates with it. If a particular boinc version precedes an OS and wasn't tested with that particular OS, there is a good probability that it won't recognize it. |

Well after a long absence I'm back - with Win 7 on this workstation. Did an insitu upgrade to Win 10 and it seemed to run fine. Had stopped doing CPDN during the upgrade and trial period. The trial period got extended after my first blue screen. Problem was it would run fine for weeks and then bang crash - blue screen with loads of other issues. After the 3rd time I reinstalled Win7 from a backup image. Two others (both laptops) are running fine on Win 10 upgrades & I like it as a system (although one of them an HP, doesn't have a driver for the fingerprint reader - the only hardware issue I had.) Had loads of issues with software, especially AV, but that was mostly fixed by updates except for the AV. Was running Kaspersky and that wasn't happy so as it was the end of the subscription tried BitDefender as that seems to be topping all the charts. However that caused problems with the network and Outlook. Ended up going back to Norton and that has been fine in my mixed environment. Perhaps in another year I'll do another install, but this time it will be clean install. My local computer shop (who built and maintain the workstation) reckons that most of the Win 10 problems that they have are from the upgrades. Very few problems from machines with a clean install. |
