Don't know if this is peculiar to linux, a particular BOINC version or anything else, I have two machines, both dual core Intel. BOINC version is 7.4.22. On both machines, of the two running tasks, the one which appears highest up on the tasks page in BM behaves as I would expect. The second one, only updates the time elapsed and percentage completed if I switch away from the window and back again. OS is kubuntu14.10. I know not a big deal in the great scheme of things, I only noticed because having defenestrated an old laptop I am using it for cpdn and virtually nothing else, I wasn't switching windows as often as I do normally and I looked at it after it had been running overnight and seeing the disparity between the two tasks wondered if both cores were running so looked at top and saw they were, switched back to BM. Anyone else experience this? If so is it only on nix boxes or is it a more general minor bug? |

I'm not running the latest version of BOINC so what I describe is no doubt different. Running Fedora 1x/2x with BOINC 6.10.58, whatever tab of boinc manager that was displayed, the updated information on that tab would not display until I moved the mouse cursor. Then all new information would be updated, but only while I was moving the cursor. Running Linux Mint 15 with BOINC 7.2.x, I do not see the behavior of 6.10.58, or the behavior you describe. All new information on the tabs of boinc manager automatically update. |

I can confirm the above observations about both 7.2.x and 7.4.x clients, but on Ubuntu 14.04 in my case. I have 7.2.42 from the official Ubuntu repository on two of my machines, and the displays work as one might expect. I have 7.4.8 from costamagnagianfranco's PPA on my other machine (I have not yet updated to any later version offered there...), and that shows the same strange display update behaviour. (I'm sticking with it despite the odd display behaviour - it's an inconvenience rather than a blocker.) On the system with the issue there are 8 processes running at once and if I am only displaying active tasks it is only the last one that doesn't update unless given a helping hand (or mouse click) - 7 lines update o.k. However, if I show all tasks the number of active task lines that update seems to depend on what I've sorted on! (But it's never more than 7 out of 8...) By the way, I can get it to update by selecting any task in the list (or by doing anything else that seems to cause a major refresh. Slightly quicker than switching away! |

Thanks for the replies, agreed a minor irritation which I will now take to the BOINC boards as perhaps I should have done to start with as it is clearly not an issue solely to do with CPDN. |
