Months, or maybe a year or so ago, I set boincmgr > Tools > Computing preferences... > disk & memory usage > Disk usage > Use at most to 400.0 Gigabytes disk space It worked nicely for a long time, but the number of tasks on standby ("Waiting to run") has gradually decreased over the last week or so, and yesterday the number of active tasks had started to decrease, so it's time to act. I should be able to run 33 tasks - 32 on CPUs, and one on GPU (eg. GPUGRID & some SETI@home tasks). Yesterday, that went down to 30 tasks. Today, it has reached 25 tasks. Actually, I just checked, and now it's 23. I've had a quick look what's happening, and I have taken the following screenshots: 1. 25 tasks running earlier today (I have boincmgr > Tools > Computing preferences... > processor usage >set to 100% of processors and 100% of CPU time) 2. boincmgr Notices tab (showing disk usage numbers) 3. boinc-clientfolder properties - size 447GB 4. The folder boinc-client > projects > climateprediction.netis 444GB 5. The folder boinc-client > projects > climateprediction.nethas 448 sub-folders Do you think I have some obsolete CPDN folders that I can delete? How can I work out which ones they are? |

hadcm3s on linux did not clean up after itself whether it completed successfully or crashed. Any hadcm3s folders in your climateprediction.net directory that aren't associated with a running task can be deleted. By the way, there are no new tasks right now so your running tasks may be dropping in number because of that. |

Many thanks @geophi. I suspected it might be something like that. I just deleted all 321 hadcm3s folders shown in the screenshot I just added to the album. I tried to get the properties for the set of folders, but the Properties window numbers kept going up and down and never stabilised. The folder boinc-client > projects > climateprediction.net is now 178.5GB, so I just got rid of 265.5GB of nonsense. I acknowledge that you tell me "there are no new tasks right now", but at least now my other projects will be able to get started again. In fact, I just checked and a couple of GPUGRID jobs have downloaded and started. Hooray! |
