It would be nice to have the facility on BOINC to limit the number of simultaneous uploads to just one at a time. It seems to me that currently it is limited to the number of processors though not having anything with more than 4 I don't really know about this. It also seems to limit it to two per project. When there are problems it would be nice to force BOINC to only upload one file at a time. This would on my boxes half or sometimes quarter the time taken to see if something is working or not. Perhaps when (if) I get superfast Broadband it might not be an issue. It would also be good to be able to suspend uploads according to project. That way when one project has a problem with it's servers BOINC could be made to only try the uploads from the project that is working. I suspect this has been asked before but a quick search didn't come up with anything. |

Hi Dave That's an option in cc_config. <max_file_xfers>N</max_file_xfers> <max_file_xfers_per_project>N</max_file_xfers_per_project> The first one might do. |

Thanks Les, I guess I should have done some more research with the BOINC handbook. It would still be nice to be able to do it from the gui though ;) |

Yes, that works, thought it wasn't to start with but that was because 2 uploads had started before I ran <read config files> I have set max/project to 1 and max to 2 which will make it easier to keep track of what is happening. Out of interest does anyone know if things go through marginally faster when only one file is being transferred at a time because of error checking etc? |
